Today is one of my best friend from college’s birthday (Happy Birthday, Jocelyn!). You may be wondering WHY this is relevant to you. When Jocelyn got married six years ago, I was amazed at how organized she was in the gift “receiving” process — she had a table set up with stationery, stamps, pens and her address book at the ready.
Jocelyn told me that she had one simple rule for staying on top of thank you notes. It is so brilliant, I am not sure why more brides don’t employ this tactic. Her secret? When opening a wedding gift that came to the house, she did not allow herself to open the next gift until she had written a thank you note for the previous gift she opened. This way she stayed on top of her thank you notes, and resisted the temptation of just ripping each gift open. How easy is that?
Here’s a snapshot of us from her beautiful wedding at her parents’ house in Lexington, Massachusetts (I’m in a Thread bridesmaids dress in our mutual favorite color!).
